I sport an orange reflective safety vest when riding in the fog, but my helmet shield and glasses fog up and moisture builds up, any suggestions?
The english riders must have some good tips.

depending on what helmet you have you can get anti-fog inserts. they are basically another layer of plastic that fits up tightly against the visor - kind of like double glazing for helmets. i just fitted on to my shoei helmet and it works really well - now the visor only fogs when i'm sitting for ages in traffic in the pissing rain (like this morning).
not sure if that would help with the glasses though. if everything's fogging up i think the only thing that will help is to crack the visor open a bit. "It is the triumph of reason to get on well with those who possess none." Voltaire Skok 'n Roll |

not sure what to do about your glasses but for the helmet shield I have a pair of gloves with the "suede" back to wipe mine clear. They do a really good job.

You're right snapshot.......i have the same problem not only in fog, but as soon as the marine layer kicks in. It sucks! Can't see jack.
May have to try the anti fog solutions....will see what works out. |

Stop breathing, it will stop the visor steaming up, on the down side you might pass out

It hit hard last night. I was driving home through the canyons and I could barely see 20 feet in front of me. Kind of a scary feeling especially when cars are going the other way with high beams on, then you're really blind.
I just rode with my face shield up so i wouldn't have to deal with it. I wasn't going too fast and I was hitting my brakes a lot so whoever was behind me could see me. I need to buy some of these fog stuffs. |

Downside being a little bit of starbursts for oncoming headlights at night, and being carefull not to scratch it when cleaning. I use this on most long rides. I like the amber colored one. http://www.modernworld.com/ Respro foggy mask, works very well. I use this if it's also below freezing out, as it keeps my face a little warmer. http://www.respro.com/urbancommuting_motorcyclin.php And last, but not least. Catcrap...works well, I use it for commuting and short rides. Needs to be reapplied from time to time. http://catcrap.com.au/ HTH TonyM |

I refuse to use catcrap. Sure, it works fine but I worked for the company one summer while in college. The owner is a grumpy rich prick and he treats his employees like crap. Hooray for capitalism I guess.
I love the Fog City inserts. And for your glasses, visit a swim shop or a scuba diving shop. They both sell awesome stuff to keep your goggles fog free while underwater. |

Respro foggy mask is awesome - +1 on that.
![]() Rain-X anti-fog is good, but you have to reapply each ride: ![]() Most important fog-riding tip: If the outside of your shield fogs up, never raise your shield to get a clearer view. When you do that the inside gets fogged too, and if you wear glasses they fog as well. And then you're screwed. 2007 GTS ('doppio') | 2006 GTS (RIP) | 2000 Ducati Monster 900ie | 2010 Ducati Streetfighter S |

This applies to cars in sand storms or fog.
Makes sense for mc's and scoots as well: Don't apply your rear breaks if you're pulled over to the side of the road. Cars follow the lights thinking it's other cars. Makes you wonder how the vespa's with a fender light would fair in fog. Probably alittle better since the light can double as a "fog light" so low to the ground... |
