Flyingpretyhigh, did you bought your MP3 at Herb chambers? I went to look at the 250 3 weeks ago and I ask the salesman about the bike, every answer I get was I don’t know and I am not sure. I told him I am waiting for the 500/fuoco cause it looks cool and he said the 250 is just as good and IT LOOKS THE SAME! Ask again and he sound like he can bet his life on it that it looks the same. Do they just hire these guys off the street with no training whatsoever? This is the first time I ever been to a Vaspa dealer and very disappointed. Driving the extra 30 miles to Plymouth Vaspa… just hope they aren’t as dumb as Herb chambers or else I ran out of dealers in my area to go to.

Called Plymouth Vaspa and said the scoot should be arriving early March, anyone from the Boston area want to ride together? =)

I will guarantee no one will get treated that way by the folks at Vespa Of Baton Rouge! Of course, they are a long way from Boston.

I purchased my 250 MP3 from the Plymouth dealership.

Thanks for the reply Scott, The guy I talked to on the phone was pretty knowledgeable with the bike compare to the guy at HC that knows nothing! What do you think of them?

Owner's name is Doug, another fellow named Chris is the person I purchased from. The mechanic is John, who is retired and works there part-time. Overall, a very small dealership that is making a go of it. I've been satisfied for the most part. When I was trying to get my extended warrantee certificate resolved I felt that they could have been more responsive and I just chalked it up to thinking that they were confused by the process with Piaggio. My service experience (the 600 mile fluid change out) was handled quite well in my opinion. They are nothing like Herb Chambers in Boston given that they are such a small dealership.

Another dealer to check out is Vespa Newport in Middletown, RI, part of Bruce Beard Automotive. I'm hoping to buy there when I get my garaging issues worked out (they've been worked out about three times now...) and they get the bike of my dreams in stock (portofino GTV). Several people on the ScootMA board have been pleased with their service. It's a bit farther from Boston, but there's good bus service (I don't have a car) and fairly direct roads.

It's a concert-grand Vespa: it's big, it's black, it has 88 moving parts.

to the OP. Yea I got it there. Its in the shop as we speak with a warped caliper. They're freaking idiots there I can't stand it. I have to diagnose the bike myself and then tell them how to fix it.

edit: Yea I'd be up for a ride anytime, especially once it warms up. Looking to do a nice cruise once spring comes starting in Boston and going through the cape to P-town airport and then back, could be fun.

Ya… after talking to those guys on the sales floor makes me wonder how mass up their service center would be, now I know... even if HC gets their shipment of 500s earlier than Plymouth vespa I would wait and buy it at Plymouth. Can’t stand letting idiots earn my hard earn money! Thanks for telling me their service center is just as bad as their salesman. Really makes me wonder how HC got so big (their Toyota salesmen are just as dumb)

Hi Nick, thanks for telling me about Vespa Newport. I really don’t mind driving down there if I know my bike will be in good hands every time it needs service.

Anyone know if there are complications for buying at another state? Like extra paper work or extra tax?

That's a first, they should ring the Guiness Book of Records.

After reading your “Breaks make loud grinding sound- help!” post, there’s no way I am buying anything from Herb chambers!

Which reminds me - why can't Merkins spell 'brake' or for that matter 'kerb'?
