Just got a phone call describing it as horrendous, before we lost the phone connection, I was told that both legs are broken and maybe his back. He was able to move his toes. An air ambulance is en-route.

Just talked to someone who was on the ride and he described the accident as a young early 20's kid driving an Lexus SC300 50-55mph around a 25mph turn loosing control, locking his brakes up and skidding into the on coming lane hitting Josh head on. Josh was on his Green Laser (not leading but in the middle of the pack) which was thrown some 100 yards backwards and down into a ravine. Both car and scooter are totaled.

Josh was airlifted to:
Regional Medical Center of San Jose
225 N Jackson Ave
San Jose, CA 95116
(408) 259-5000

I don't know how long he will be there or where they will transfer him too at the direction of his medical insurance company.

Yes there are photos of the scene but I'm to that they are too horrific to post here.

This hits very close to home for me as this is the same hills where I had my bad accident but it sounds like I got off a lot better then Josh did.

Lets do keep Josh and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

As one who was on that ride but did not see the incident or the scene, I saw a HUGE train of Lexus and other import racers coming down Hwy 9 just as we were approaching the 9/35 intersection. Kids hanging out of windows, hootin' and hollerin', taking photos and video and not a lot of attention being paid where it was needed.

Sounds like the pinnacle of irresponsibility displayed by at least one individual in the car group.

Here's one for hoping Josh a quick and complete recovery...

That's the thing I've always feared about riding up 9... So many weekend racers who think they're the next Michael Schumacher driving completely out of control. I hope the kid in the car gets the book thrown at him.

I'm not sure anyone knows? The kid and his friend stayed in the car the whole time and didn't really participate in any of their aftermath...I'm sure the CHP had something to say to them though

I wonder if the driver of the car is in the hospital. I'd like to send him something. Something outside the realm of the common florist.

I hope they are charged with something..reckless driving perhaps and have to pay for all of Josh's medical expenses. By the look of the car in Josh's lane, they were clearly in the wrong..

Hmmm...going 55 into a 25mph turn...locking up the brakes...80 foot skid marks....the license plate...makes you wonder if he wasn't TRYING to do what he did.

I've heard there has been a lot of people drifting on Page Mill lately, though I've also heard they send someone up the road and communicate by cell phone to try and get runs in on a clear road...and they do it on weekday nights.

Obviously not the case on this sunny, busy, spring fever day. Asswipes.

My best wishes to Josh and Katie and hopes for a quick and complete recovery.

Don

PS - Curt, please let us know if there's any kind of a recovery fund needed or if they need help with dinner, whatever!
