I made the plunge and found the best deal I could get on the internet. Looks like what comes in the box is all I need but wanted to check with the peeps to explore whether anyone has accessory suggestions to consider.

Congrat!!! Well deserved Father's Day gift. May I ask how much you paid and from what site? I am in need of one and have been dilingently searching.

Yikes that site scares me. Looks like one of those Brooklyn camera shop places. Hopefully it works out.

Don't be too scared. If you do your diligence much money can be saved. In this case approx $200 over other places. Money is made by selling in volume thus the discount. All my camera equipment has been purchased from places that might give you the heebie geebies but I don't like to throw my money away....although I probably didn't really NEED a GPS : )

Well theres alot of things that scare me about the site. I realize volume sellers get discounts but Amazon sells 200x the amount of Zumos this site does and their price still does not touch this.

I bought over $15,000 in electronics last year alone, atleast thats what my accountant told me, lol, and a lot of it from obscure small places on the net that most people have never heard of, so that is not my problem.

The few potential problems I see with this site are:

1. too good to be true pricing
2. no address listed anywhere on the site
3. no reseller ratings at all
4. no other contact information in the who-is listings for their domain
5. no continuity with their photos which leads me to believe the site was thrown together with a stock images folder that was probably used to make several more sites just like it

Anyways these are just my observations from buying electronics online the past 13 years. I've seen many people get burned. As long as you paid with a major credit card, your going to be covered anyway.

I would surely not buy from them. GPS City has really good prices compared to most places and the site you listed is $200 less than theirs. I have a wholesale account with a distributor and their wholesale price is $654.75.

I paid $643 (I think that's right) from Amazon (not one of their partner sellers, who were a few dollars less, but might also be less accountable in case of trouble) last November. I suppose it's possible that the price has declined a bit, esp. if they're getting ready to introduce a new model.

The box includes everything you need to use it both on your scoot/cycle, and in your car - both mounts and wires and a pile of mounting hardware for handlebar or brake reservoir. The extras you would need to buy are the antennas for satellite radio and traffic services (which are also extra cost). The battery lasts about 4 hours which will take you on a nice day trip, until you get the wire snaked through the headset.

I've read some bad things about this site, but if you've already ordered, let us know how it works out.

Regretfully the prophesy came true. I wasn't worried as it was a Visa charge but the company did not honor the price and sent me the following message:

Dear:Scott Smith,

We thank you for your order and appreciate you shopping with us .

"Due to the product you ordered being out of stock for 6-8 weeks from today's date. We regret to inform you that the order is canceled due to the product being on backorder. when or if we get the product again in stock soon will send you an email to place an order please do not resubmit your order again . sorry again and thanks for your understanding ."

So much for do diligence.

But they have your Visa card nunber, expiration date, CVV, address, phone number... tell me they don't have your date of birth and SSN, mother's maden name and favorite pets name.

But I tend to be a little paranoid.

A call to Visa may be in order.

re: Zumo 450
I had the 450 and sold it in order to get the 550

waste of money actually

I never use the Bluetooth feature (but of course I had to go out and spend $125.00 on a cool earpiece ...)

i don't need to be able to find the nearest Italian Restaurant (I know right where it is down my street the Olive Garden)

the 450 was all you need for the scooter

the 550 will cost you $200. more, but really a waste of money...

for what it's worth...

toys are toys.........

BUT I do use all the neat features when I take a road trip in my car (Honda Element) up to North Carolina...

comes with a neat windshield mount that has a built in speaker..mucho fun !

zoom zoom zoom ...........

I guess it depends on how much you will use it. I just got a Toyota Highlander that has built in bluetooth, but before that I used the bluetooth in my Zumo 550 everyday in my truck. Once I get a headset for my helmet I think I will be using it a lot again on my bike.

Sorry the mega-deal didn't work out...but no surprise. Try Amazon. They have a good price, and they deliver.

I use the Bluetooth in my Zumo all the time with a headset mounted in the helmet. It's a wonderful aid.
