Modern Vespa

I did this ride last year on my GTS...a great little fund raising ride. There were about 10 scooters that showed up. Some Vespas, assorted Japanese...large and small. Ive been debating on doing this ride on my GTS or on my Vtwin Victory. Lots of big bikes showed up last year but I must say it was the scooters who got allot of attention. This course is a great one for scooter pilots. Some minor twisties, country roads and very little traffic. SO....I was wondering...any Scooter Pilots planning on doing this ride. If I hear there will be some scooters there, Ill stick to my GTS.... and forget the Victory. This is a great little ride..for a GREAT big cause.The .Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. I hope to hear from some Scooter riders....

I'm hoping that the PR work I've done, along with some very dedicated scooter riders, will result in over 100 scooters at this event. I can't wait to see all of you show up on your scoots. I'm debating whether to ride my MP3 or Aprilia Atlantic to the event, but I'm sure it'll be the MP3.

I'm going to lead a scooter ride to the event from the Long's Drugstore parking lot in Walnut Creek, located at the intersection of Olympic & California Blvds (The parking lot is right adjacent to Vespa of Walnut Creek on Mt Diablo).

Because my wife and I are working the event, I'll need to leave that location at 8:00 a.m. FYI: Registration runs from 8-9:45 a.m. Also, Kregg, from California Speed-Sports aka Vespa of Livermore, will be leading a ride from their store. Give Kregg a call for more details about meeting times, etc. His number is: (925) 606-1998.

I have left RidePackets at most of the dealers throughout the Bay Area, and perhaps some of those dealers will be having rides to the event, too. Check with your local dealers. If you're coming from out of town and would like to get a special event rate at the Holiday Inn Express in Dublin, give them a call and tell them that you're with the "Ride for Kids" group.

I hope to see many scooter riders on the 29th!

I'll be there just like last year.

Great...I see from my post that there will be some scoots in attendance...so Im going to do the ride on my GTS. I hope to meet all of you there. This is a fun ride for a good cause. This is one of my normal rides..almost every week. Last week there was a Ladybug hatch...millions of them. It was like I was getting shot. But that hatch only last a couple of days each year. See you all on the 29th.....

Turns out I won't be able to attend afterall... I thought my boss would be back from vacation on the 28th, but it turns out that it's the 30th, which means I'm on-call... Maybe NEXT year?!

I'm so sorry that you won't be able to make the "last" San Francisco Bay Area "Ride for Kids". Next year, it'll be a consolidation of the Pleasanton aka San Francisco and the Woodland aka Sacramento rides, and it'll be advertised as the Northern California "Ride for Kids". It'll be held on the 1st Sunday of October at the Solano Community College in/near Cordillia, CA.

Those that can make it this year, let's make it so good that the powers that be will be sorry they moved it away! Of course, we're hoping that the big winners will be the kids, themselves.

Glad to hear you will be ther on your scoot. Ive decided Im going to do the ride on GTS. I just rode the course again the other day.....its still one of my favorite daily rides. Make sure you introduce yourself to me. Ill be on a Black GTS with a Top Case. See you in a week.

Just 5 days to go before the San Francisco Bay Area "Ride for Kids". I'm still hoping that I'll be joined by at least 99 scooters. I've had commitments from members of scooter forums thoughout Northern California, and I hope you'll be there, too!

If you'd like to join me, I'll be leaving the Long's Parking Lot, located at the intersection of Olympic and California Blvds in Walnut Creek, at 8:00 a.m. I'll be there on my red MP3, waiting for you.

If you'd like to setup your own ride, plan on arriving at the Pleasanton Middle School, 5001 Case Street, Pleasanton, Ca for Registration between 8:00-9:45 a.m. The police escorted ride will begin at 10:00 a.m., Sharp! Also, Cal Speed-Sports in Livermore will be having their own ride to the Pleasanton Middle School. Give them a call and ask for Kregg for details!

This might be a fun way to meet other Vespites...does anyone know the entire route? I'm new on my LX150 and don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

The route will never enter the freeway, and is a leisurely "loop" ride over backroads in/around Sunol. All you have to do is get your self and your scooter there, and it's a "cake walk" after that.

Don't call them - they're busy selling scooters

Met me at California Speed-Sports/Livermore Vespa at 8AM - leaving around 8:15AM

A PM to me would be great to know who and how many are expected.

This is a weekly route that I ride. Its a very easy ride for a scooter. No freeway riding at all. Nice roads, passing wineries, lots of trees...sometimes wild turkeys. Its a great ride even for a smaller scoot. Im hoping to see even more scoots than last year. Like I said before...a great little ride for a GREAT BIG cause. See you all on Sunday.

Hey, Ritchj, over 227 folks have read this thread. Maybe we'll be lucky and have 1/2 of them show-up. I sure hope we do, because the kids absolutely love the scooters; and oddly enough, Harley riders, of which I was one, are completely infatuated with scooters.

By the way, my group is leaving Walnut Creek at 8:00 a.m., sharp; so, we should arrive in Pleasanton at about the same time.
