The Official MV Cannonball Thread
Sat Sep 06, 2008 2:57 pm
Given that there are a large number of MV riders participating in Cannonball this year (including yours truly) I thought maybe you all would like a single, consolidated place to read about what's going on. I can't promise that many (or any) of the riders themselves will post to this thread, so I'm going to crowdsource the reporting of this event to you all.

Some of the riders have blogs, some of us have friends and family who are registered here on MV, and some of us will be in phone contact with various people here. Personally, I'll be posting to my blog from my iPhone (via email), but I probably won't do a lot of posting to MV directly.

You all should feel free to keep this thread up to date from the various blogs and tidbits of information you glean through the grapevine.

The ride starts in T-minus 4 days and 23 hours.

Looks like a fantastic trip. Days 9 & 10 have some of the most beautiful countryside I saw on our trip. Endless rolling green hillsides. Try to take your eyes of the road and enjoy some of it. I will be following your journey. Good luck! I wish you all well!

My trip back and forth in May was a blast, I'm sure your trip will be one too.

I was planning to ride with ya'll on the last day through DC, but my work will have me gone during that weekend.

My best wishes to all the riders.

I'm just about ready to go, only a few minor things left to do on the bike, then all I need to do is pack and prepare my navigational resources (that part is probably going to be the most work). I'm heading up to SF this afternoon... see you all there at the rally and the party tonight!

and of course if we don't have an MV member finishing in the top 3, then we're going to send you all back out to do it over again

It does???!!! Slaps self on forehead, grabs coffee-stained napkin and makes shopping list: Moped (not Cannonball legal but that's a detail we'll clean up in post), Riding Gear, Tkt to SFO, GPS, Wire, Electrical Tape, MV T-Shirt, Toothbrush. Runs out door trailing wire and electrical tape screaming, "See you in three weeks!!! ARRRRRrrrrrrrgh..."

Thanks for the heads up.

I will do my best!!
Already shipped my scoot to SFO. I leave tomorrow early morning from JFK.
I will be updating with my iPhone, same as Jess, but will not be posting here probably. Follow along on the blog, though:

http://vespacoast2coast.blogspot.com/

I think there is going to be an MV 1-2-3 lineup no matter what...
I am psyched that PistolPete is documenting this one for Scoot!
See you all in a couple o days.

That should be easy, given how many CBers are MVers.

I was hesitant to publish my location (via SPOT Satellite Messenger) to the general audience, but have decided to at least publish my check-in messages and my help messages. You can follow my progress (at least whenever I hit a button) via this link: Where's Jess?
