Jacket Mod - Reflective 3M Scotchlite Iron on
Tue Jul 18, 2006 11:33 pm
My mesh PowerTrip jacket did not have enough reflective piping on it for me so I looked around and found this iron on 3M Scotchlite HERE and gave it a try. Judge for yourself, but I think it worked great for an easy iron on solution!

I went for the 1"X18" Silver, but it comes in other sizes and options including Neon Lime Green and Orange! For around 5 bucks including shipping you can't beat it.

Nice! Any problems with ironing on the mesh? Just wondering, Beale.

I had the same thought -- no issues with melting the nylon?

Looks great! After all the accidents or near accidents I'm definitely putting something on my armor.

Just curious. If the best thing is to make sure that you are seen, then why are most things made in black? Besides not being noticable, in the summer it is d@mn hot!

I did not apply it on the mesh portion of the jacket. My the shoulder area of my mesh jacket is solid material.

Jess, I took a chance and it worked fine. My jacket is 80% Polyester and 20% Nylon. The website said it does not adhere good to Nylon but it is on my jacket really well.

I put the iron on medium heat and kept it moving. Once it was down and not moving, I then used the tip on the iron on the paper backing and got it nice and hot. This way I would not scorch the jacket.

I let things cool and peeled it off at an angle. Worked perfectly. I was not that worried if it didn't work as I was going to get some sew on type and have it done over my mistake if it didn't work.

Wow Tom, Thanks, lets us know how it holds up over time.

I added 2" 3M tape to my jackets and pants, but I had to hand sew it all on. That sucked.

Good job in finding this stuff, a real time and life saver.
